friendly staff good room and breakfast and bar meals
Very welcoming, excellent very comfortable room. Food was also very good. Good service in bar.
Their was scope for improvement in the attitude of the waiting staff at breakfast. Service was abit sloppy although food was good.
Single lift undergoing maintenance at breakfast time. Bed old and small. They tried to overcharge us by £20 on the internet rate we booked at.
the online cost and useful access to the Orkneys
Decor looked a little tired

The welcome on arrival was friendly, efficient and very helpful. Parking at the rear was very convenient.
the staff were most helpfull,a very nice breakfast we had every morning, hotel is very handy for shops ,river, and harbour, we shall definately stay at this hotel again
no we were very happy with everything
Convenient location. Booking-in process on arrival very straight forward. Single room was comfortable with sufficient room. Fairly well kept. Services in room adequate.
Definitely could do with double glazing due to location on the main road and boy racers around town. Mattresses very poor standard. Decor throughout needs to be refreshed. Staff need to be aware of fire hazards due to night porter setting off the fire alarm whilst using a toaster at 4am. Staff not adequately trained in fire safety.
Had a run down appearance lift needed upgrading because we had a room overlooking the road it we very noisy till after midnight ( Youths)
Excellent people, especially the breakfast service persons.
A mnaze of musty corroidors that might be fine in some environments but not the one they seek to be performing in. A real attempt bto get rid oif the mustiness would make the whole place seem fresher and more in tune with modern world

The service at breakfast. Bed comfortable
Location - on a main street with nearby loud music bars and boy racers tearing up and down the street on friday night. The warren of rooms - corridors, short flights of steps and an incomprehensible room numbering system. We had an elderly partially sighted person in our group - the lift only went up 1 floor before several other short flights of steps. The shower in my room had controls outside the shower and another of our party had a shower that didn't work. It was like going back to the 1970's - but subsequently realised that this is the norm for N Scotland

It was clean, spacious and reasonably comfortable.
I thought the hotel was mediocre at best. The décor is pretty tired.
Friendly, helpful staff. Great full Scottish breakfast included in rate.5 Minute walk from the railway station.
I was travelling light but it would have been a long through corridors and fire doors and up stairs to my room with a suitcase.Watch out for the scheduled breakfast times of bus tour groups, the dining room staff get momentarily overloaded.
Good location. Ideal for my purposes, catching the ferry to the Orkneys
Haggis. Good service. Friendly staff.
Internet access cost too much and was a muddle to use
Location - friendly staff
Dilapidated look inside but generally clean- requires re-decoration.
